JTI ECSEL

Joint Technology Initiative on Electronic Components and Systems for European Leadership.

The new ECSEL Joint Technology Initiative (JTI) is a merger of the ARTEMIS embedded systems JTI and the ENIAC nano-electronics JTI set up in 2008, together with the European Technology Platform EPOSS (Smart Systems Integration). These JTI’s are public-private partnerships under the EU Treaty, implemented as Joint Undertakings (JU’s).
The ECSEL JU started in 2014 and will be fully operational up to 2020, followed by a running down phase till 2024. It will bring together large companies, world-class European research and technology organizations linked to higher education research labs, and SMEs providing technology and services.

ECSEL 2017: ARTEMIS Brokerage 2017 and ECSEL CALL FORUM 2017

As a step towards the ECSEL 2017 calls ARTEMIS-IA organized the ARTEMIS brokerage 2017 event on 31 January 2017 in Brussels (Belgium). During this event, which attracted 262 registered participants, a few overview presentations about the ECSEL Programme and about the upcoming calls were given:

  • MASP 2016 vs 2017 by Alun Foster, ECSEL JU Head of Plans and Dissemination, presenting a concise overview of updates of the strategic directions and objectives of the ECSEL JU in 2017,
  • ECSEL 2017 Calls, What's New? by Georgi Kuzmanov, ECSEL JU Call Coordinator, providing details about the upcoming ECSEL 2017 calls.

Furthermore, four thematic presentations within the scope of ECSEL were given:

The core of the ARTEMIS-IA ECSEL 2017 Brokerage Meeting consisted of the presentation of new project ideas in pitch-presentation and/or posters. In subsequent break-out sessions further discussions about some of these project ideas took place between interested participants and the presenters of the ideas and initial consortium building started. We created an inventory of all project ideas presented at ECSEL 2017 meetings (work-in-progress; local access only). The available pitches and posters of all project ideas presented can also be consulted (local access only).

Three important documents for the ECSEL 2017 calls are available here:

The Work Plan contains a.o. the eligibility criteria of the national autorities and the reimbursement rates, both from the ECSEL JU and the national governments. For the Netherlands, this information can be found on pp. 108-110.

On 8 February 2017, an EIRICT Lunch/Information Meeting has been held, to inform the EIRICT community about the observations and results from the ARTEMIS-IA ECSEL brokerage meeting. We include here the presentation of Johan Lukkien, given at this meeting.

Should you wish further information on individual project ideas you may contact Peter van Otterloo, Johan Lukkien or Jan Haagh (EE-oriented projects). You may also use the participants lists of the two brokerage meetings for establishing contacts about project ideas:
